If you're looking for a laptop that has a good
balance of portability and computing power, then you should consider getting
a thin and light laptop.
Choosing a good
thin and light laptop can be difficult, since you are faced with a wide
assortment of models to choose from.
In this article, I will run through 5 of
the better quality thin and light laptops you can find in the market.
If you've been observing the laptop market, you will find that thin and light
laptops are gaining popularity over bulkier desktop replacement laptops. You
will see that wide screen
displays are found in many thin and light laptops and they usually come with the
new Intel Core 2 Duo processor.
Let's take a look at 5 of the best thin and light laptops that I've come
across in the market.
HP Pavilion dv6675us
The HP Pavilion dv6675us thin and light laptop comes equipped with some powerful
features. It comes with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 4GB of RAM and a very
large 250GB hard drive. It also includes the Windows Vista Ultimate operating
system, which is a bonus. It uses a GeForce 8400M GS graphics and a 15.4-inch
screen - which is not good enough for power gaming but certainly enough for
graphics and video applications.
Polywell
Polynote V516ND-7500
If you can overlook the less-known brand name, the Polywell Polynote
V516ND-7500 offers some great components at a very good price. You get an Intel
Core 2 Duo processor, 4GB of RAM, a GeForce 8600M GT 512MB graphics card and a
nice 15.4-inch screen. It does not come with the same standard software packages
that the other models have, but this may not be a problem given its powerful
specs.
Toshiba
Qosmio F45
The Toshiba Qosmio F45 is a great thin and light laptop. You have, out of the
box, an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB of RAM and (get this) 300GB of hard disk
space. This baby also comes with a HD-DVD compatible optical drive for viewing
high-definition DVDs. The unit is slightly larger than the others on this list,
but that's not really a big issue.
Lenovo ThinkPad T61
The Lenovo ThinkPad T61 thin and light laptop is slightly lighter than the rest
of the laptops listed here, with its 14.1-inch widescreen. It comes with an
Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB of RAM, as well as a 100GB hard disk drive. I'd
recommend this laptop for those business users looking for a long term thin and
light notebook.
Sony VAIO
VGN-FZ280E
While the Toshiba Qosmio F45 comes with a HD-DVD player, its not really suitable
if you're a
Bluray fan. The Sony VAIO VGN-FZ280E thin and light laptop comes with a
2x Bluray compatible writer. You also get an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB of
RAM and a nice 250GB hard drive. In the graphics department, the Sony VAIO VGN-FZ280E is not as good as the Toshiba Qosmio F45,
however. Again, this is not a big issue if you don't need to play 3D games on
the laptop.
Conclusion
I hope the above article has shown you some of the
best thin and light laptops available in the market. If you're looking for such
a laptop, remember to do your research and do some comparison shopping. Remember
how you will use the laptop (e.g. more for gaming or work), work out a budget,
and you will be able to make an informed purchase decision. That's all from me
for now - until next time, happy computing!
