The Best Home Laptop
To Suit Your Needs

Let me guess. You have been looking around lately and have come to realize that everyone, quite literally everyone has a laptop to work on, to enjoy and to flaunt.

You too would like to join the bandwagon and own a laptop and you have already formulated a long to-do list. However, a reasonable yet troubling question has been rattling in your head; “What is the best home laptop for me to buy in order to successfully accomplish all the projects that I have in mind?”

1. It's A Tough Choice

The laptops you have seen at your cousin’s, at your best friend’s, at your next door neighbor’s, at your hair dresser’s, at your doctor’s, at your colleague’s and so on have all been different makes, different models, different sizes and even different colors.

Finding it difficult to find a good home laptop?

To confuse you further and to make your deciding process so much more difficult, each and every one of these people swears that his or her particular laptop is the best because it has all the bells and whistles and can accomplish this, that and the other with speed and efficiency. Wow! I see your dilemma.

2. It Depends On Many Factors

I would like to be able to take your hand and guide you to the one and only laptop that is the best for your home use but I cannot, sorry. The fact of the matter is that there is really no such thing as a universally best laptop whether for home or office use. What might be best for your cousin, best friend, neighbor and so on may not necessarily be best for you and vice a versa.

Selecting a laptop depends on many factors and those can be resoled by asking yourself the following relevant questions and answering them as accurately as you possibly can:

  • Will the projects you have in mind require massive, heavy duty software programs?
  • Are you thinking of doing video editing and working with graphics and animation?
  • Will you be burning a goodly amount of CDs and DVDs?
  • Will you be playing games much of the time?
  • Larger viewing screens are easier on the eyes but add extra weight to the laptop. Which would you opt for, straining your eyes or your back?
  • Will you be using your laptop mostly away from AC power supplies in which case you would need a long lasting battery?
  • Do you intend your laptop to replace an existing desktop or will it be supplementing it?
  • Do you think of carrying your laptop with you often?
  • Are you a multi-tasking kind of a person who would need a laptop that will be able to do the same?
  • Do you envision attaching many pieces of hardware such as printer, external hard drive, external mouse, etc. to your laptop?
  • What is your budget? How much can you afford to spend on your laptop if you were to buy it today vs. how much you would be able to spend in the future?

3. The Best Home Laptops to Choose From

Now that you have done your part, allow me to share the findings of my own research. Between the two of us, I have no doubt that we will find you a laptop that will serve you beautifully. You will notice that I have included several laptops in different categories. The reason for that is simple — just like there may be more than one laptop that would work well for you; any given laptop may fit into more than one category.

Would you consider yourself a power-user? If so, the following laptops would be your best choices:

  • Lenovo X300
  • Asus Lamborghini VX2S Yellow
  • Sony VAIO FZ180E/B
  • HP Pavilion tx1410
  • Sony VAIO SZ791

For frequent gaming, choose one of the following:

  • Asus Lamborghini VX2S Yellow
  • HP Pavilion tx1410
  • Sony VAIO SZ791
  • Dell XPS M1710
  • Apple MacBook Pro

If you are not very technical or particularly computer savvy, you would probably do best with one of the following laptops:

  • Dell XPS M1330
  • Apple MacBook 13.3”
  • Dell Inspiron 1525
  • Acer Aspire 5720

Conclusion

Are the laptops I have listed above truly the best home laptops for you? I think so, but that is only my opinion and may not necessarily be anyone else’s. Good luck in your search!
